Yash says he became Kiara Advani’s ‘bodyguard’ on Toxic set: ‘I was more worried’

Yash recently revealed at the audio launch of 'Toxic' how seriously Kiara Advani approached her work on Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, recalling how he and director Geetu Mohandas became extra cautious around the actor while she was pregnant.

Speaking at the film’s audio launch in Mumbai on Thursday, Yash praised Kiara’s professionalism and said her dedication stood out even while she was dealing with the physical demands of the shoot.

Yash recalled that he initially worried about Kiara taking on some of the film’s demanding sequences. Their first conversation even revolved around a rain sequence, with the actor asking him if he had ever filmed one before.

However, once shooting began, Yash said Kiara’s commitment left a strong impression on him.

He revealed that she continued to give the project her full effort even after she became pregnant. Yash also admitted that he and Geetu were more concerned about her safety than she was, joking that they turned into “bouncers” and “bodyguards” on the set.

While Kiara remained focused on the film, Yash said the team made sure she was taken care of throughout the shoot. He described the experience as particularly special and thanked the actor for her dedication.

The revelation comes after Kiara faced criticism online following the release of Tabahi, her song with Yash from the film. The intimate moments in the track became a talking point on social media, with the actor receiving backlash over her screen presence.

Yash had already spoken in Kiara’s defence at the film’s trailer launch in Bengaluru. Addressing the criticism, he said actors should continue to do what they believe in and suggested that audiences may sometimes take time to catch up with a film’s creative choices.

The trailer subsequently shifted attention towards Kiara’s role and the larger world of Toxic, with her performance receiving a more positive response from fans.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups marks Yash’s return to theatres after KGF Chapter 2. The gangster drama features Yash in a dual role, with Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria among the principal cast.

The film revolves around a troubled father-son relationship and promises an intense mix of crime, action and family drama. Shot in both Kannada and English, Toxic will also be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
