'Without a doubt, Ajith Kumar!': Narain Karthikeyan’s pick for Brad Pitt’s role if F1 was remade

Indian Formula One driver Narain Karthikeyan is set to join hands with actor and racing enthusiast Ajith Kumar for the Asian Le Mans Series, with the possibility of competing in the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans in France if they qualify. Speaking at the India Today Conclave, Narain praised Ajith’s humility, passion for motorsport, and eagerness to learn from professionals, describing him as a genuine partner in building Indian motorsport.
Their friendship goes back nearly two decades, beginning during Narain’s Formula Two stint in England, where Ajith frequently sought guidance on racing. Narain revealed that their Le Mans collaboration started informally at a dinner discussion when Ajith proposed creating an all-Indian racing team. Initially hesitant, Narain eventually agreed after Ajith’s persistent persuasion.
Interestingly, Narain also mentioned Ajith as his first choice if a remake of F1: The Movie were ever made, citing the actor’s continued enthusiasm for racing even at 50.
“Ajith is undoubtedly the perfect choice. Even now, he competes in multiple events with the same passion and energy as ever,” Narain said.
Meanwhile, Ajith, while competing in the Michelin 12H Paul Ricard 2025, was asked about starring in a racing film. Drawing parallels with Brad Pitt’s F1 project, Ajith suggested he would prefer a Fast and Furious-style action film or even an F1 sequel in Hollywood, highlighting his penchant for performing his own stunts.
Beyond racing, Narain also confirmed that a biopic on his life is in development, charting his journey from his childhood in Coimbatore to his rise in Formula 2. The film will be directed by Mahesh Narayanan, acclaimed for Malayalam films like Take Off, C U Soon and Malik. Though Narain refrained from sharing details, he expressed excitement about the project.
This partnership between Narain and Ajith marks a significant step for Indian motorsport, blending racing expertise with cinematic star power. (With inputs from Agencies)
