Mumbai: Bollywood powerhouse Farhan Akhtar is set to bring to life one of India’s most iconic war heroes, Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, in the upcoming film "120 Bahadur." Capturing the grit and valour of the 1962 Battle of Rezang La, the movie promises a gripping portrayal of courage under fire, telling the story of 120 brave Indian soldiers who faced overwhelming odds against thousands of Chinese troops. Directed by Razneesh ‘Razy’ Ghai and produced by Excel Entertainment alongside Trigger Happy Studios, the film is slated for release on November 21, 2025, and is already stirring excitement with its powerful teaser and star-studded cast.

Who is Major Shaitan Singh Bhati?

Major Shaitan Singh Bhati was an extraordinary Indian Army officer celebrated for his audacious bravery during the 1962 Sino-Indian War. Born in Rajasthan, he joined the Jodhpur State Forces, later serving with distinction in the Kumaon Regiment. His most defining moment came as the commander of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment, stationed at Rezang La in Ladakh.

On November 18, 1962, Major Singh and his 120-men unit faced a ferocious assault by around 3,000 Chinese soldiers. Despite overwhelming odds, he inspired his men by moving from post to post under heavy fire, orchestrating the defence, and refusing to retreat. Even after being gravely wounded, he urged his men to leave him behind so that they might survive, an epitome of self-sacrifice and leadership. Most of his company fought to the last, but their stand inflicted heavy casualties and stopped further enemy advances.

For his unparalleled valour and leadership, Major Shaitan Singh was awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military honour, posthumously. His legacy as the lionhearted saviour of Rezang La endures as a symbol of courage and patriotism, now brought to the screen in "120 Bahadur."
