Was Parvathy Thiruvothu approached instead of Kalyani in ‘Lokah’?; Actress breaks silence

‘Lokah: Chapter One – Chandra’, directed by Dominic Arun with Kalyani Priyadarshan as the female lead, is the biggest hit film of 2025. With a collection of ₹300 crore, the film has emerged as the current industry hit in Malayalam cinema. Along with widespread acclaim, a few rumours about the film also circulated on social media. One such claim was that actress Parvathy Thiruvothu was initially considered for the role later played by Kalyani in Lokah. Parvathy has now responded to questions related to this.

The question was posed to Parvathy when she attended the title launch of her upcoming film Prathamadrishtya Kuttakkar, in which she plays the lead role. However, even before the question was completed, the actress made it clear that she considers such questions unnecessary.

To the remark, “We had heard that Parvathy was cast instead of Kalyani,” Parvathy replied, “such questions are completely unnecessary.” When the questioner added, “That’s what we had heard,” Parvathy responded, “Let people hear whatever they want. You get to hear many such things.”

Lokah was produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Productions. Parvathy had earlier come forward praising the film. Lokah also achieved the distinction of running for 100 days in theatres, a rare feat after a long time.
