Vinayan poses 5 questions to Ranjith over film award row

Kochi: Amid an ongoing row over the Kerala State Film Awards, 2022, director Vinayan has written an open letter to Chalachitra Academy Chairman Ranjith demanding the latter to respond over the allegations levelled against him.
Taking to social media, Vinayan wrote, “As a filmmaker, you may not be obligated to respond (on the issue). But, you are the person who has been made the chairman of the Chalachitra Academy at the expense of the state treasury. As long as you remain in that position, is there any point running away when jury members allege your interference in the determination of the state awards?”.
He further asked Ranjith to either deny what jury members Jensy Gregory and Nemom Pushparaj have said or accept his mistake and step down from the post of chairman.
Vinayan also raised five questions to Ranjith in this regard.
- Whether the claim of jury members that Ranjith intervened (in the award determination) by violating the is true?
- Is it true that you said the film ‘Pathonpatham Noottandu’ and the songs by Sreekumaran Thampi are trash?
- Did you watch the film along with the jury members?
- Did there was a dispute between you and Nemom Pushparaj over the art direction of ‘Pathonpatham Noottandu’?
- Did you ask to review the three awards given to this film by the jury?
Vinayan had accused Ranjith of misusing his position to pressurise the jury against considering his film ‘Pathonpatham Noottandu’ for the awards. He had also released purported audio clips of Nemom Pushparaj and Jensy Gregory, who were heard talking against Ranjith over the awards, as proof of his claims.
