Kuala Lumpur: The much-anticipated audio launch of actor-turned-politician Vijay’s final film, Jana Nayagan, was held on Sunday in Malaysia, drawing huge crowds of fans and industry personalities.

The event turned emotional when director Atlee, who has collaborated with Vijay on hits like Theri, Mersal and Bigil, paid a heartfelt tribute to the superstar.

‘One last time’

Speaking about the sentiment of ‘one last time’, the filmmaker said, “I don’t know how to define that ‘one last time’. The Vijay I know has done everything like it’s the last time. He has given every shot thinking this is the last shot, I have to give my best.” He added, “That ‘one last time’ was IPS Vijay Kumar. That ‘one last time’ was Thalapathy Vetri Maaran. That ‘one last time’ was Rayappan. And I think the ‘one last time’ is Jana Nayagan.” Atlee concluded his speech by rushing across the stage to hug Vijay, evoking cheers from the audience.

Adding a lively touch to the event, actress Mamitha Baiju danced to the iconic song Ella Pugazhum from Vijay’s Azhagiya Tamil Magan, composed and sung by A.R. Rahman.

‘Huge Thalapathy fan’

The performance was met with roaring applause, with Vijay joining in the claps. Mamitha later shared her excitement at working with the star, saying, “My brother is a huge Thalapathy fan. We use references from Vijay’s films when we talk at home. Sir, I will truly miss you.”

Malayalam actor Naren, who also plays a key role in the film, expressed his delight at sharing screen space with Vijay. “People have been asking about acting with Thalapathy Vijay since Chithiram Pesuthadi. Finally, it has happened. I will never forget the memories on set,” he said.

Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan also features Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, and Priyamani. The first-look poster showed Vijay in a blue shirt and black denim, taking a selfie with a cheering crowd, further building anticipation for his final cinematic outing.
