Sexual assault allegation against Omar Lulu: Victim says director drugged her before rape

Kochi: In the ongoing sexual assault case against Omar Lulu, the complainant has accused the director of raping her after allegedly drugging her with MDMA-laced drink.

In a petition filed against Omar Lulu's request for anticipatory bail, the complainant alleged that Lulu made false promises of marriage while hiding his existing marriage. The complainant also accused him of sexually assaulting her by promising a role in his upcoming movie. She was called to the hotel on the pretext of film discussion and was raped by being given a drug-laced drink, the victim says in the petition.

The bench of Justice C S Dias allowed her to be added as a respondent in Lulu's plea and adjourned the bail hearing to July 22.

The complainant also stated in her petition that Lulu has a history of drug addiction, and the Palarivattom police initially registered the case based on his statement. Later, the case was transferred to the Nedumbassery police station following directions from the City Police Commissioner.

She further alleged that the accused has been threatening to settle the case privately, involving his driver Nasil Ali, friend Azad, and others. The complainant claims to possess mobile conversations as evidence, which she agreed to present before the court. 

The petition argues that Lulu holds significant influence and could potentially tamper with witnesses and evidence if granted bail. The petition also demands that the accused be taken into custody for further questioning.

Earlier, Previously, the court had granted interim anticipatory bail to Omar Lulu. The director maintains that the complainant had been residing with him in his apartment since 2022 and their relationship was consensual.
