The chilling trailer of Vadakkan, a supernatural thriller packed with spine-tingling suspense and immersive soundscapes, has been unveiled. Having already garnered attention at multiple international film festivals, the film is set to reach theatres on March 7. The trailer, brimming with intrigue and an air of unsettling mystery, has taken social media by storm. It offers a glimpse into the eerie events that unfold on an island, teasing the sinister forces at play. The film was shot in and around locations like Kuttikkanam, Vagamon, and Kochi in Kerala.

Directed by Sajeed A, a Bombay Malayali, Vadakkan recently made history in Malayalam cinema with its audio trailer launch, an innovative first that captured widespread attention. Adding to the film's growing anticipation was the release of the unique song 'Kettingo Ninga Kettingo Ninga Vellidivettum Kodithottam...,' which further piqued audience curiosity. A supernatural thriller rooted in the folklore of North Malabar, Vadakkan stars Kishore and Shruthy Menon in lead roles. The film's screenplay and dialogues are penned by Unni R, with Bijibal composing the music. Notably, acclaimed Pakistani singer Zebunnisa Bangash lends her voice to a track written by Bollywood lyricist Shellee.

Produced by Offbeet Studios and directed by Sajeed A, Vadakkan draws inspiration from Dravidian Puranas and ancient folklore. The film merges traditional storytelling with cutting-edge digital technology, promising a visually and sonically immersive experience. The film premiered at the 78th Festival Internazionale Del Cinema Di Salerno and had an exclusive, invite-only market screening at the Cannes Film Festival's Marché du Film 2024, where it was recognised in the Fantastic Pavilion category for horror and fantasy films. Selected as one of the top seven films in this category, Vadakkan garnered significant attention at a gala screening attended by celebrities, Hollywood and Bollywood actors, and genre enthusiasts.

The film also clinched the Best Supernatural Film award at the renowned Fright Night Festival in the United States. Featuring industry stalwarts such as Resul Pookkutty, Bijibal, and cinematographer Keiko Nakahara, it stands as the only Malayalam film to achieve such a feat in this genre.

Adding to its technical brilliance, the film features Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookkutty and Japanese cinematographer Keiko Nakahara, ensuring an elevated cinematic experience. The film's VFX, executed by leading CGI teams from India and abroad, further enhances its visual grandeur.
