TV presenter and actress Ranjini Haridas has shed light on one of the challenging moments in her career during the finale of a reality show. In an interview with the YouTube channel I AM with Dhanya Varma, Ranjini opened up about being publicly criticized by veteran actor Jagathy Sreekumar for her alleged ‘fake accent’ while hosting the show.

Recalling the incident, Ranjini said, “That attack went on for some time, and I had enough time to think about how to respond. I could have reacted, or I could have cried, or I could have walked off, or I have could ended the show. But my moral and professional commitment was to finish the show. If I had reacted, I knew what the consequences would be the next day.”

Despite being a person who is known for her quick wit, Ranjini chose to remain composed. “I am someone who knows how to talk back, but I felt it wouldn’t be ethical to my work. It was the finale of a music show, and the focus should have been on the contestants, not on a controversy. So, I decided to act like it was fine, finish the show, and deal with it afterward,” she added.

Ranjini also shared valuable insights for aspiring emcees. “There’s a different decorum for corporate and entertainment shows. I’m more vibrant and casual for entertainment events, while maintaining a professional tone for corporate settings. Establishing a connection with the audience is key,” she explained.
