Actor Nivetha Thomas conquers Kilimanjaro

Actress Nivetha Thomas conquered the highest peak in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro. She conveyed her excitement through Instagram along with a picture from the top of the peak. She was seen holding the Indian flag.

Nivetha is known for her performance in movies like Veruthe Oru Bharya, Kuruvi, Romans, Jilla, Money Ratnam, Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham and Papanasam.

Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano situated in northeastern Tanzania at 5,895 meters (19,340 feet). It is also the largest free-standing mountain rise in the world, meaning it is not part of a mountain range. The highest point on it is called Uhuru, the Swahili word for “freedom.” The mountain is also known for its snow-capped peak.

On October 6, 1889, German geographer Hans Meyer and Austrian mountaineer Ludwig Purtscheller became the first people on record to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro.
