Lokah Part 1: Chandra is proving to be a cinematic juggernaut, dominating the box office and capturing hearts across the globe. Released on August 28 ahead of the Onam festivities, the fantasy epic has struck a chord with audiences and critics alike, blending folklore with visual grandeur. As it continues to break records and win acclaim, the film marks a defining moment for Malayalam cinema on the global stage.

Directed by Dominic Arun and backed by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, Lokah Part 1: Chandra has received rave reviews for its technical brilliance and compelling storytelling. Blending folklore with fantasy, the film has pushed the boundaries of Malayalam cinema, reaching uncharted territory in terms of scale and imagination.

The screenplay, co-written by the immensely talented Santhy Balachandran, is brought to life with an evocative musical score by Jakes Bejoy and the stunning visuals of cinematographer Nimish Ravi. His magical lens has elevated the film to stratospheric heights — a feat rarely seen in regional cinema.

At the heart of Lokah is Kalyani Priyadarshan, who rises as Chandra, Malayalam cinema’s first female superhero. She is powerfully supported by an ensemble cast including Naslen, Chandu Salimkumar, and Arun Kurian.

The film has not only captured hearts in India but has also gained pan-global recognition, with stars like Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, and Parvathy Thiruvothu praising the women-led narrative — calling it a hopeful wave of change in Indian cinema.

The latest to join the chorus of appreciation is none other than star couple Suriya and Jyothika, as revealed by actor Naslen himself.

Speaking at a media event following the film’s success, the young actor shared:

“Several unexpected things are happening in my life. I am overwhelmed. Happy. I don’t know what to say. Some time ago, I got a video call from Suriya Sir and Jyothika Ma’am. They showered praise on Lokah. I am truly grateful and humbled by the opportunities coming my way.”

Naslen’s revelation has since gone viral, once again underlining Suriya and Jyothika’s unwavering support for emerging talent in Indian cinema.

Meanwhile, Lokah continues to soar at the ticket counters and is on track to becoming the highest-grossing female-led film in the history of Indian cinema.

With Chandra casting her spell, it seems Lokah is only just getting started.
