‘They’re hiding something’: Trailer of Asif Ali–Aparna Balamurali’s Mirage teases layers of secrets

Kochi: Director Jeethu Joseph, known for his mastery in building suspense through everyday fears and psychological tension, is back with a new thriller titled Mirage. The film, headlined by Asif Ali and Aparna Balamurali, is set for a worldwide theatrical release on September 19, and its recently released trailer has already begun creating buzz among fans of the genre.

Centred on the life of an online investigative journalist, Mirage explores a high-stakes game of puzzles, deception, and survival. The trailer builds on the suspense shown in the earlier teaser and offers a deeper look at the intense emotional and action-driven narrative.

The film marks the reunion of Asif Ali and Aparna Balamurali, who were last seen together in Kishkindha Kaandam. Their pairing in Mirage is already drawing attention for the complexity of their characters.

Jeethu Joseph, who is best known for the Drishyam series and other major hits, had previously generated curiosity around Mirage through a digital illusion video and multiple look posters. The film also features Hakim Shajahan, Deepak Parambol, Hanna Reji Koshy, Sampath Raj, and Arjun Gopan in key roles.

"Mirage" is produced by Mukesh R. Mehta, Jatin M. Sethi and C.V. Sarathi under the banners of E4 Experiments and Naad Studios, in association with Seven1Seven Productions and Bed Time Stories. Asif Ali's earlier 2025 release "Rekhachithram" was a major box-office success. The audiences are now eagerly awaiting his collaboration with Jeethu Joseph after their much-talked about last film "Kooman".
