‘The Chathans will rise’: Will Tovino lead Lokah sequel? Santhy drops hint

Screenwriter Santhy Balachandran has hinted that the second part of Lokah, which stormed into the ₹200-crore club, will narrate the story of Chathan. She also suggested that Tovino Thomas’ character is likely to take centre stage in the sequel. The hint came through Santhy’s Instagram story, shortly after the film crossed the ₹200-crore milestone at the box office.
Tovino had earlier shared a celebratory card on Instagram marking the film’s entry into the ₹200-crore club, captioned with the dialogue “Namma jayichittom maaraa, jayichittom” while tagging director Dominic Arun. Responding to it, Santhy wrote: “Your turn next Tovi. Thank you for being the steadfast friend standing by the captain & the team.” To this, Tovino replied enthusiastically: “Polikkum numma” (It will be epic).
This exchange has fuelled strong speculation that Tovino will emerge as the lead in the upcoming sequel.
‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ achieved the ₹200-crore milestone in just 13 days. Directed by Dominic Arun, the film featured Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen in lead roles. It had already joined the ₹100-crore club in its opening week itself. With this feat, ‘Lokah’ has become the highest-grossing woman-centric film in South Indian cinema.
The film marks the beginning of a superhero cinematic universe titled ‘Lokah’. The cast also includes Chandu Salimkumar, Arun Kurian, Sarath Sabha, Nishanth Sagar and Vijayaraghavan along with several guest appearances that added to the film’s thrill factor.
