It’s hard to maintain a friendship, Tanuj Virwani reflects on his breakup with Akshara Haasan

Actor Tanuj Virwani recently opened up about his breakup with Akshara Haasan, daughter of veteran actor Kamal Haasan. Tanuj, who dated Akshara for four years, revealed some details about their split during an interview with Siddharth Kannan.
Tanuj, the son of actress Rati Agnihotri, shared that unlike his other ex-girlfriends, he is no longer in touch with Akshara. He mentioned that their relationship ended after her private photos were leaked online, though he made it clear that the leak itself wasn’t the cause of their breakup.
In the interview, Tanuj explained why he chose to distance himself from Akshara after the incident.
“I’m still friends with many of my exes, and we maintain mutual respect for each other. But in this case, things were different. Sometimes, when you lose respect for your partner or when they don’t stand by you during tough times, it’s hard to maintain a friendship. I may forgive, but I don’t forget. We’re both happy in our own spaces now,” he said.
Tanuj clarified that the leaked photos weren’t directly tied to their breakup, but Akshara’s response to the situation played a part in their relationship’s end. He stated that Akshara didn’t stand by him during the leaked photo scandal.
“The leaked photos didn’t cause the breakup, but how it was handled did. Either you believe I was responsible, or you don’t. If you don’t, then you should stand up for me. She didn’t, and that’s where things changed. But everyone has their reasons, and it doesn’t matter anymore,” he stated.
Tanuj is now married to his girlfriend, Tanya Jacob. The couple tied the knot last year and are expecting their first child. He also shared that he met Tanya around the time he was going through his breakup with Akshara.
Talking about how Tanya reacted to the situation, he said, “I met Tanya around the time when I broke up with Akshara. When we first met, we were just friends. But she did ask me about the whole controversy. I told her the truth, and that was it. She understood, and we moved on from there.”
Tanuj Virwani is set to star in 'Murshid', where he will share the screen with Kay Kay Menon. Additionally, he will appear in 'Johnny Jumper', directed by Saurabh Varma, who is known for 'Mickey Virus'. The movie also include Vijay Raaz, Brijendra Kalra, Zakir Hussain, and Zarina Wahab playing other roles.
