CBI concludes investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput death case, submits closure report

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a closure report in the case involving the alleged suicide of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The CBI submitted its findings to a special court in Mumbai, which will now decide whether to accept the report or call for further investigation, according to officials.
Sushant Singh Rajput, was found hanging in his Mumbai apartment in Bandra on June 14, 2020. The case was initially handled by the Bihar Police, which had registered a case of abetment of suicide based on a complaint filed by Rajput’s father, K. K. Singh.
The case was later handed over to the CBI. The agency’s investigation included statements from Rajput's rumoured girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, and others close to the actor, as well as the collection of medical records.
The AIIMS forensic team had earlier provided a medico-legal opinion dismissing claims of poisoning or strangulation, which had been made during the investigation. Rhea Chakraborty, who was accused in the complaint by Rajput's father of misappropriating his son’s money, has denied the allegations in several television interviews.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Narayan Rane has made fresh claims regarding the mysterious death of Disha Salian, the former manager of Sushant Singh Rajput. Rane accused former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray of calling him twice during the COVID-19 pandemic and requesting him not to involve his son, Aaditya Thackeray, in the Disha Salian death case.
Rane claimed, “When Uddhav Thackeray was the chief minister, he called me twice and requested me not to drag his son into the Disha Salian case.” He further demanded the registration of an FIR against Aaditya Thackeray and called for his arrest based on the gathered evidence.
However, Uddhav Thackeray dismissed Rane's allegations, stating that his son, Aaditya, was not connected to the case. Aaditya Thackeray also denied the accusations, calling them an attempt to malign his name and stated that he would address the matter in court.
The Disha Salian case resurfaced recently after her father, Satish Salian, announced plans to approach the Bombay High Court, seeking a fresh investigation into her mysterious death. Salian has demanded an FIR against Aaditya Thackeray and the transfer of the probe to the CBI.
