Sunny Deol-starrer ‘Border 2’ to hit theatres January 2026; poster out now

On the occasion of the 79th Independence Day, the makers of Border 2, touted as India’s biggest war film, unveiled its first poster and announced that the movie will hit theatres on January 22, 2026.

Starring Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty, the Border 2 cast also includes Medha Rana, Mona Singh, and Sonam Bajwa. The film is a sequel to the iconic Border (1997) and promises to carry forward its legacy as a patriotic film.

The makers shared the Sunny Deol Border 2 poster on social media, showing the actor in military gear holding a bazooka with fierce determination.

“Announcing the date on Independence Day is symbolic. This day reminds us of the sacrifices made by our soldiers for India’s freedom, and so does our film. It’s an honour and a privilege to honour their undying spirit through this story,” Director Anurag Singh said.

The film also stars Medha Rana, Mona Singh, and Sonam Bajwa, and is produced by Bhushan Kumar and J.P. Dutta.

Producer Bhushan Kumar noted, “Border is more than a film, it’s an emotion for every Indian. With Border 2, we aim to carry forward that legacy and bring it to a new generation. The new release date gives audiences more time to come together and experience the film in theatres during an extended Republic Day weekend.”

Nidhi Dutta, also producing the film, added, “The first Border was a heartfelt salute to our armed forces. This time, we return with the same passion, a fresh story, and a promise to evoke the same pride and tears in every theatre. With the new release date, we are happy to bring the film to cinemas sooner, allowing audiences to enjoy a longer Republic Day weekend.”

Backed by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, and presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series in association with J.P. Films, Border 2 will hit theatres nationwide on January 22, 2026.
