When the Lok Sabha result counting concluded, a surprising outcome emerged from Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh, where BJP candidate Lallu Singh, contesting as a BJP candidate in the constituency housing the Ayodhya Ram temple, faced defeat, with SP candidate Awadhesh Prasad clinching victory.

Actor Sunil Lahri, famed for his portrayal of Laxman in the old Ramayana series, made a controversial remark on social media concerning election results.

In an Instagram post, Lahri shared an image portraying Kattappa, a character from S.S. Rajamouli's Bahubali films, stabbing the protagonist Baahubali from behind. Alongside the image, Lahri wrote, “We are forgetting that these are the same Ayodhya residents who doubted Goddess Sita after she returned from exile. What do you call the person who even denies God? Selfish. History stands proof that the citizens of Ayodhya always betrayed their king. Shame on them.”

Additionally, Lahri shared a video message expressing his disappointment with the election results. He highlighted the low voter turnout and expressed concerns about the effectiveness of a coalition government formed as a result.

BJP was surprised by their party candidate's defeat at Faizabad despite the constituency being the centre of attention for months in relation to the Ayodhya Ram Temple. However, its candidate lost the polls by a margin of 54,567 votes to SP's Awadhesh Prasad.
