'So deserving': Gauri Khan's emotional tribute to SRK after his first National Award for ‘Jawan’

New Delhi: As Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan took the stage at Vigyan Bhawan on Tuesday to receive his first-ever National Film Award for Best Actor, it was a moment filled with emotion and pride—not just for SRK but also for his wife Gauri Khan.

On social media, Gauri expressed her immense joy and heartfelt congratulations in a tribute that resonated deeply with fans and the film fraternity alike. Posting on Instagram, she wrote, “What a journey it's been @iamsrk. Congratulations on winning the National Award!!! So deserving... It's a result of your years of hard work and dedication.”

Her post included a candid photograph of Shah Rukh dressed in a sleek black suit, taken just before the awards ceremony, showcasing the star’s poise and excitement for this milestone. Gauri’s affectionate message painted a picture of a supportive partner who has witnessed the countless hours and sacrifices behind SRK’s success.

Adding a personal touch, Gauri revealed her plans to craft a “special mantle” to honour the award—the Silver Lotus Award (Rajat Kamal).

The award was presented to him by President Droupadi Murmu in recognition of his stellar performance in Atlee’s directorial Jawan, released in September 2023. In an emotional video shared after the announcement, Shah Rukh expressed his gratitude to fans, his team, ministry officials, and family. He said, “Thank you for honouring me with the National Award... I am overwhelmed with gratitude, pride, and humility. To be honoured with this award is a moment I will cherish for a lifetime.”

He specifically thanked his team and management for their tireless support, humorously acknowledging they bear with his "eccentricities and impatience." He also recognised the unwavering support of his wife, Gauri Khan and children, who have provided him with love and care despite his demanding career.
