‘He kicked me with his boots like a WWF wrestler’: Singer Suchitra accuses fiancé of domestic abuse | VIDEO

Singer and former radio jockey Suchitra has publicly accused her fiancé, Chennai-based High Court lawyer Shunmugaraj, of domestic abuse, financial exploitation, and unauthorised use of her property. She revealed the allegations in a detailed video posted on Instagram, in which she vowed to pursue legal action against him.

Suchitra explained that she had known Shunmugaraj for several years and was on the verge of getting engaged. She claimed he entered her life during a vulnerable period following the 2016 Suchi Leaks controversy. “He walked into my life like a saviour," she said, alleging that he manipulated her, isolated her from friends, and gained her trust before exploiting her emotionally and financially.

The singer described the relationship turning violent. “After the Suchi Leaks episode, I thought nothing worse could happen. But it did—I fell in love," she said. “I was beaten several times. He kicked me with his boots like a WWF wrestler. I used to sit in a corner and cry, asking him to stop."

Suchitra further alleged that she was eventually forced out of her Chennai home, which she claims was taken over by Shunmugaraj. She subsequently relocated to Mumbai, where she has been working over the past few months. While she had previously hinted at personal difficulties in now-deleted social media posts, this is the first time she has publicly named her fiancé and detailed the alleged abuse.

She also accused him of draining her finances and misusing her assets. “He took away all my money. I sound so stupid saying this, but it’s true. He used my house, my resources, and left me with nothing," she said, adding that she plans to take legal steps to recover her losses.

Suchitra alleged that Shunmugaraj misrepresented his marital status. “Everyone said he was damaged because of his first wife. But I later found out he was never divorced," she claimed.

The singer had been at the centre of the 2016 Suchi Leaks controversy, involving the leak of private content from her Twitter account. At the time, her then-husband Karthik Kumar had claimed her account was hacked, while she later accused Kumar and actor Dhanush of involvement.

Now, Suchitra says she is determined to seek justice. “I really loved him. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have given him a single rupee. But now, I’m going to court. I will chase him till he pays back every single paisa," she declared.

Along with the video, she posted a photograph of Shunmugaraj and what she described as proof of him using her residential address on his Aadhaar card without her permission. She has since disabled comments on her social media posts to avoid personal attacks.

As of now, neither Shunmugaraj nor his legal representatives have responded to the allegations.
