Shilpa Shinde's false sexual harassment case admission sparks outrage

Actor Shilpa Shinde is facing massive backlash on social media after admitting that the sexual harassment case she filed against Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain producer Sanjay Kohli during their bitter 2016 dispute was not true. The revelation, made during a recent Bharti TV podcast appearance, has triggered outrage online, with many users accusing the actor of undermining genuine survivors and calling for legal action against her.

The former Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain star made the startling confession while speaking to Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa. Shilpa said she had filed the sexual harassment complaint because she felt she had "no other option" amid her ongoing conflict with the show's producers over payments and contractual issues.

Her remarks quickly went viral after clips from the podcast surfaced online, sparking intense debate and drawing thousands of reactions across social media platforms.

A large number of users criticised the actor for admitting that the allegation was false years after the case became a major controversy in the television industry.

One user wrote, “Do you have any shame? By making fake sexual harassment allegations, you are minimising the experiences of all women who have actually gone through it.”

Another commented, “You lost all my respect . I used to be your fan during Bigg Boss and was very happy you won it. And always thought you’re right.”

Several users also questioned whether authorities should investigate the matter following her public admission.

One social media user wrote, “You should be ashamed!! @mumbaipolice please initiate some action against her and set an example that no frivolous cases should be filed. This is bizarre and mockery of the judicial system! @cmomaharashtra_ please set an example against this frivolous act. She has wasted the state's resources and has also wasted someone's life! And she has openly admitted it! Please set an example!”

The criticism has turned the actor into one of the most discussed television personalities online, with many users debating the impact such claims can have on genuine workplace harassment cases.

Despite the criticism, Shilpa also received support from some quarters of the entertainment industry.

Actor and doctor Bebika Dhurve backed Shilpa, saying television work environments can often be emotionally and mentally draining.

“Indian TV sets and work spaces can be so traumatizing.. it really deteriorates a person mental and emotional peace.. keeps you financially so drained and broke.. . She is a brave strong soul to speak up about it.... there is a reason I dont do TV shows anymore.. reality TV is actually the best thing that happened to me,” Bebika wrote.

Actor Shilpa Shinde later in the podcast revealed that relations between her and the makers of Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain have improved over the years. According to Shilpa, she later agreed to work with members of the team again and now shares a cordial relationship with them despite their highly publicised fallout.
