Mumbai: Actor and model Shefali Jariwala, best known for her appearance in the early 2000s hit music video Kaanta Laga, has died at the age of 42. While early reports suggested a cardiac arrest, Mumbai Police have stated that the exact cause of death remains unclear and a post-mortem examination is currently underway.

According to police, Jariwala was found unresponsive at her residence in Andheri late on Friday night. She was rushed to Bellevue Hospital by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, and three others. However, hospital staff confirmed that she had already passed away by the time she arrived.

“Mumbai Police received information about the death around 1 am. Her body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for post-mortem. The cause of death is not yet clear,” officials told news agency ANI.

Following the incident, both police and forensic teams arrived at her residence on Saturday to conduct an investigation. The presence of forensic experts at the scene has led to increased speculation about the circumstances surrounding her sudden passing.

In video clips now circulating on social media, a visibly distraught Parag Tyagi was seen leaving the hospital, shielding his face with his hand as he sat inside a car.

The first public confirmation of Jariwala's death came via a social media post by journalist Vickey Lalwani, who wrote, “Shefali Jariwala, the Kaanta Laga girl, is no more.”

Shefali Jariwala rose to fame at the age of 20 after starring in the music video Kaanta Laga, which became a cultural phenomenon. She later appeared in several music albums, films, and television shows, including a stint on Bigg Boss 13. Her vibrant screen presence and popularity in the early 2000s made her a household name.
