‘Rapists have jobs, but victims don’t; what justice has he delivered…’: Sandra Thomas

Actress and producer Sandra Thomas questioned the kind of justice B Unnikrishnan brought to the industry during his 16-year tenure as FEFKA General Secretary.

Addressing reporters about the police case filed against B Unnikrishnan based on her complaint, Thomas said, "Many men and women on film sets are forced into silence over various issues. This is a problem of power. Many are denied work opportunities. While rapists still get work, victims are left with none. What kind of justice is that? FEFKA supports predators and gives them jobs, but victims can’t even afford to pay their children’s school fees. What justice has he delivered in his 16 years as General Secretary?"

Earlier, the Ernakulam Central Police filed the case accusing Unnikrishnan of threatening her in retaliation for her statement before the Hema Committee. B Unnikrishnan has been named the first accused, while producer Anto Joseph is listed as the second accused in the FIR.

Sandra further alleged that individuals, including B. Unnikrishnan, played a significant role in attempting to expel her from the producers' association. She claimed that Unnikrishnan had openly stated that she would not be given opportunities. "Things have reached a stage where no one dares to question them," Sandra added.

She also claimed that efforts were made to exclude her from the film industry. She also alleged that she has been denied film opportunities since last August. Instructions were given by the accused not to hire her for any projects. As a result, she has been forced to stay away from films. 

In her complaint, Sandra also mentioned being insulted at an organisational meeting. Initially, the police were reluctant to register the case, but after approaching the court, they proceeded on booking a case as per the court's instructions.
