The health podcast ‘Take 20’ by actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has gained a lot of attention in a very short span of time. The podcast discusses topics such as health, life coaching and exercise. People working in related fields are invited by the actor cum host as guests to talk on the podcast. The podcast has also gained lakhs of subscribers within a short time.

At the same time, episode two of the podcast ‘Take 20’, ‘Detox Pathways’, which talks about liver health has triggered a major controversy with many people coming forward, alleging that Alkesh Sharotri, the guest on that episode, is spreading unscientific things through the programme. Controversial claims have been made regarding the usage of herbs such as dandelion to detoxify the liver. A post written against the podcast by Malayali liver specialist Dr Abby Philips on the X account called ‘The Liver Doc’ has become a topic of discussion.

The post states, “The podcast features some random health illiterate "Wellness Coach & Performance Nutritionist" who has absolutely no clue how the human body works and has the most rubbish content on his Instagram handle, including complete nonsense such as herbs to manage autoimmune disorders.”

“The Wellness Coach guy is not even a real medical person and would probably have no idea about functions of the liver.
"Dandelion can increase urine output and work as a ‘diuretic’ or like a ‘water pill’ as per traditional medicine. But there is a lack of good human evidence for this effect.” tweeted Dr Philips on X.
