Sabrina Carpenter adds Emmy to her trophy case, inches closer to EGOT

Sabrina Carpenter has another trophy to add to her growing collection and this time, it’s an Emmy. The pop star has won her first Emmy Award as an executive producer and performer on ‘The Muppet Show’, putting her halfway toward the coveted EGOT.

The milestone arrives after a breakout awards run that already earned Carpenter two Grammys in 2025, Best Pop Solo Performance for ‘Espresso’ and Best Pop Vocal Album for ‘Short n’ Sweet’. With an Emmy and two Grammys now secured, she needs just an Oscar and a Tony to complete the entertainment grand slam.

It’s a fitting moment for the singer behind ‘Espresso’, a song that brought her playful confidence into a global pop phenomenon. As she sings, “I can’t relate to desperation...” The line almost reads like a soundtrack to her current career trajectory.

Her Emmy-winning project, ‘The Muppet Show’, won four awards from six nominations at the Creative Arts Emmys. Along with Best Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), it took home awards for Best Writing for a Variety Special, Best Picture Editing for Variety Programming and Best Production Design for a Variety Special.

Carpenter’s rise has also been marked by the cheeky self-assurance heard throughout ‘Espresso,’ “I’m working late, ’cause I’m a singer / Oh, he looks so cute wrapped ’round my finger.” Now, that late-night work is moving into awards across entertainment.

The special has one more nomination at Sunday’s Creative Arts Emmys, with Matt Vogel nominated for Best Character Voice-Over Performance for his portrayal of Kermit the Frog.

Carpenter did not attend the ceremony to accept her Emmy.

Her fellow executive producers included Seth Rogen, David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter, Michael Steinbach, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Alex McAtee, Matt Vogel, Eric Jacobson, Albertina Rizzo, Alex Timbers, Ryan Janata and Dani Iglesias.

Speaking about the project, Vogel told Gold Derby, “We assembled a great group to make the show.” He added, “We’re really proud of it.”

And for Carpenter, the achievement could not be sweeter, “Is it that sweet? I guess so.”
