Woman charged with attempted murder after firing ‘assault rifle’ at Rihanna’s Beverly Hills mansion

LA: Los Angeles police took a 35-year-old woman named Ivanna Ortiz into custody on Monday after she allegedly discharged a firearm multiple times near the Beverly Hills residence of Grammy-winning artist Rihanna.

The shooting occurred Sunday afternoon, prompting an emergency response to the affluent neighbourhood north of Sunset Boulevard. While law enforcement officials confirmed that no injuries were reported, several media outlets indicated that the singer was inside the mansion at the time of the assault.

LAPD spokesperson Officer Charles Miller confirmed that the suspect was apprehended "without further incident" following reports of gunfire. The woman has since been booked on suspicion of attempted murder and is being held on $10 million bail. Although the District Attorney has not yet finalised formal charges, police recovered a weapon at the scene, identified by some reports as an AR-15-style rifle.

"Shooting just occurred. Ten gunshots fired from the vehicle," a police dispatcher told responding units on audio obtained by KABC-TV. Investigators stated the rounds were fired from a vehicle parked across the street from the property's entrance.

While the LAPD has not officially named the homeowner, public records show the estate is held by a trust managed by Evan Jehle, a board member of Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation. Video footage from the scene displayed at least five visible bullet holes in the home's front gate, with additional reports suggesting one round penetrated a wall of the residence.

The motive for the attack remains under investigation, and authorities have not established a prior connection between the suspect and the billionaire entrepreneur. Representatives for Rihanna, 38, have not publicly commented on the incident.

The security breach follows a 2018 incident in which an intruder spent 12 hours at another of the singer’s properties in the Hollywood Hills. That individual eventually pleaded no contest to stalking and vandalism charges and was sentenced to probation.

Rihanna, a nine-time Grammy winner and founder of Fenty Beauty, recently expanded her family with partner A$AP Rocky. The couple welcomed their third child, a daughter named Rocki Irish Mayers, in September.
