Ranveer Singh offers prayers at Mysuru’s Chamundeshwari Temple following ‘Kantara’ mimicry case

Mysuru: Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh visited the Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hills in Mysuru on Tuesday morning and offered prayers, weeks after the Karnataka High Court directed him to visit the shrine while closing proceedings in the “Kantara” mimicry case.
Temple authorities said the actor arrived around 7.30 am and entered the temple quietly like a regular devotee. According to sources, Singh spent nearly 10 minutes inside offering prayers before temple staff recognised him and welcomed him with a garland. He was reportedly wearing a mask during the visit.
The actor’s visit assumes significance because it comes after the Karnataka High Court recently closed proceedings against him in connection with the “Kantara” mimicry row. The case stemmed from allegations linked to a promotional video featuring Singh that had triggered backlash online.
While disposing of the matter, the court had directed the actor to visit the Chamundeshwari Temple and offer prayers. Tuesday’s visit is being seen as compliance with that direction.
What is the latest ‘Don 3’ controversy involving Ranveer Singh?
Meanwhile, Singh is also facing another controversy linked to his reported exit from “Don 3”, the upcoming film directed by Farhan Akhtar.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) recently announced a non-cooperation directive against the actor after producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani reportedly approached the Indian Film & Television Directors' Association over the matter.
FWICE honorary general secretary Ashok Dubey said the federation decided to take action after Singh allegedly failed to respond to repeated notices. According to him, members associated with the federation would not work with the actor until the dispute is resolved.
Responding through his spokesperson, Singh said he continued to hold “deep respect and goodwill” for everyone associated with the franchise and chose to remain silent out of “dignity, maturity and mutual respect”.
“Don 3” was expected to mark Farhan Akhtar’s return to direction after “Don 2”, which starred Shah Rukh Khan. The original “Don” franchise featured Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman in lead roles.
