If you’ve been waiting to see R Madhavan return to his romantic roots, here’s some good news. The actor is all set to charm audiences once again in ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’, an upcoming romantic drama co-starring Fatima Sana Shaikh. Slated to premiere on Netflix on July 11, the film is a family drama that explores the theme of love through mature storytelling. Directed by Vivek Soni, the film marks a fresh on-screen pairing between Madhavan and Fatima, raising anticipation among fans eager to see their chemistry unfold.

‘Aap Jaisa Koi’ will feature Madhavan as Shrirenu, a reserved Sanskrit teacher who falls in love with a younger French instructor, Madhu. Their modern love story is about discovering equal love as the couple’s lives meet with the most unexpected circumstances. ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’ promises to be a complete heartwarming family entertainer as it tells the story of family and romance.

Backed by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Adar Poonawalla under the production house ‘Dharmatic Entertainment’, ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’ is a product of Netflix Original Films. It’s a fresh and grown-up take on romance and companionship that blends with humour. Talking about the upcoming film, its director, Vivek, said, “It’s a film about breaking free from the walls we build around ourselves. It's about embracing the awkwardness and vulnerability of love.”

The film also marks the second collaboration between Vivek and Netflix, after their 2021 film ‘Meenakshi Sundareshwar’, starring Sanya Malhotra in the titular role. “I’m excited to present a love story that’s tender, messy, and intimate, one that embraces vulnerability without losing its charm and breeziness. It quietly questions the roles we fall into in relationships and reflects the quiet courage it takes to truly let someone in,” said Vivek, adding that the upcoming movie is “a modern romance that speaks to the need for real connections in today’s world”.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Madhavan was last seen in 'Kesari 2' and 'Test', which were released in April. He will also be seen in Mithran Jawahar's next, 'Adhirshtasaali', a Tamil film co-starring Radhika Sarathkumar and Madonna Sebastian. Fatima, on the other hand, is gearing up for the release of Anurag Basu's 'Metro...In Dino', in which she will star opposite Ali Fazal. The film is set for its theatrical release on July 4.
