Priyadarshan’s big reveal: Search on for actor to play Mohanlal’s father in 100th film

Director Priyadarshan has revealed new details about his upcoming film with Mohanlal, which will mark the actor’s 100th film. In an interview with an English media outlet, he said that shooting is set to begin in November and confirmed that the film will feature 12 songs.
Described as a music-driven project, the film will centre on a complex narrative blending commercial elements with strong action sequences. The story revolves around a father and son who are both Carnatic musicians.
Priyadarshan also shared that the team is searching for a newcomer to portray Mohanlal’s father. The role requires an elderly performer with knowledge of Carnatic and Hindustani music, as well as Kathakali. He noted that this has made casting particularly challenging, as Kathakali artists are typically trained in both acting and singing. He added that, had S. P. Balasubrahmanyam been alive, he would have approached him for the role.

The film will be produced by Aashirvad Cinemas, with Antony Perumbavoor as producer and Binu George Alexander as co-producer.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal has several projects in the pipeline. These include Drishyam 3, directed by Jeethu Joseph, as well as upcoming collaborations and cameo appearances in films such as Jailer 2, Khalifa, and Thudakkam, the debut film of his daughter, Vismaya.
