Many of our prominent directors are also talented actors, although only a few have appeared on screen in significant roles. Now, actor Soubin Shahir is talking about one such personality. Soubin reveals that director Amal Neerad had initially considered casting Anwar Rasheed as the lead in a film. This revelation came during an interview with The Cue Studio, related to Soubin's latest film Pravinkoodu Shappu.

Soubin explained, "Amal Neerad had often tried to get Anwar Rasheed to act in a film. The film Anwar was first conceived with Anwar Rasheed in mind for the role. But Anwar Rasheed didn’t agree. Ambukka (Anwar Rasheed) is a natural actor, and we could realize that while he is directing. He is always very much involved, explaining the nuances of the character and the mood on set."

On the other hand, in Amal Neerad’s 2010 film Anwar, Prithviraj played the lead role. The film was re-released in theatres in October last year, remastered in 4K with Dolby Atmos. In Anwar, Prithviraj portrayed the character of Anwar Ahmed. The action-thriller also featured an ensemble cast, including Prakash Raj, Lal, and Mamta Mohandas. (With inputs from Agencies)
