Actor Preity Zinta has expressed her support for Italy's recent move towards legalizing chemical castration for rapists and pedophiles. She shared a post on X, praising the decision and urging the Indian government to consider similar measures to address such crimes. Zinta wrote, "What a fantastic move ! Hope Indian government also does sometime similar.  What do you think folks ?  It’s high time there is zero tolerance for such crimes."

Italy’s lower house of parliament has taken a significant step toward legalizing chemical castration. The house passed a motion to establish a committee that will draft legislation on using androgen-blocking drugs to treat violent sex offenders. The treatment, which would be consensual and reversible, aims to reduce the likelihood of reoffending.

Tougher law and order measures under Prime Minister

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s right-wing administration, which came into power in 2022, has focused on implementing tougher law and order measures. The government has introduced numerous new crimes and harsher penalties to tackle security issues. Special attention has been given to high-crime areas such as Caivano, which gained national attention after a gang rape incident.
