Kalabhavan Shajohn recently spoke about how playing a police officer opposite Mohanlal in the blockbuster Drishyam altered the way people saw him as an actor. In an interview with Mathrubhumi, Shajohn discussed the difficulties of being typecast after the film’s success.

“After Drishyam, my regular collaborators would often call me to say they didn’t have a role that suited me anymore,” Shajohn said. “They would tell me, ‘We just can’t cast you in films like before, can we?’” He noted that filmmakers began considering him primarily for roles similar to his cop character in the film.

“Whenever a police role comes up, I’m usually the first person they think of. It’s both a blessing and a curse,” Shajohn added, admitting that escaping this image has been a considerable challenge.

Prior to Drishyam, Shajohn had acted in 20-25 films, mostly in comedic roles. The thriller marked a turning point in his career, ending his streak in comedy and significantly raising his profile. In addition to acting, he has also directed Brother’s Day, featuring Prithviraj in the lead role.

The talented actor has several exciting projects lined up; however, he will not be part of Drishyam 3, according to reports.(With inputs from Agencies)
