The ‘Peaky Blinders’ saga is set to continue with a two-season sequel series commissioned by Netflix and the BBC, each consisting of six hour-long episodes, focusing on a new generation of the Shelby family in 1950s Birmingham. The announcement, made on October 2, 2025, confirms the franchise's expansion beyond the upcoming film The ‘Immortal Man’, with Cillian Murphy returning as an executive producer.

New Era, New Shelbys

The sequel series will launch in 1953, a decade after the original series concluded, depicting post-war Birmingham rising from the ashes of WWII bombings through massive reconstruction using concrete and steel. The central narrative will revolve around the fierce battle to control the city’s rebuilding project, described as a "brutal contest of mythical dimensions" with the Shelby family once again at its "blood-soaked heart". Creator Steven Knight emphasised the story’s deep roots in Birmingham, stating, “The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel, and it will be a hell of a ride”.

Production and Distribution

Knight will return as writer and executive producer, continuing the legacy through his production companies Kudos and Garrison Drama. Filming is set to take place at Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham, the same location used for the original series and the upcoming film. The series will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK, with Netflix handling global distribution, ensuring the gritty crime drama reaches its vast international fanbase.
