Parag Tyagi about wife Shefali Jariwala: 'She was completely the opposite of…’

Actor Parag Tyagi has been left devastated following the sudden death of his wife, actress Shefali Jariwala, who passed away late on Friday night at the age of 42 reportedly after suffering a cardiac arrest.

According to sources, Parag, along with three others, rushed Shefali to a city hospital on the night of June 27, but doctors declared her dead on arrival. Later that evening, an inconsolable Parag was seen leaving the hospital, barely able to hold back his tears.

News of her untimely demise has prompted fans and friends alike to revisit her journey in the entertainment world and the enduring love story she shared with Parag Tyagi.

A relationship built on patience and trust

Shefali Jariwala, who gained widespread fame in the early 2000s with her appearance in the hit pop track ‘Kaanta Laga’, had earlier been married to music composer Harmeet Singh. The marriage, which began in 2004, ended in separation in 2009. Following the emotional toll of her first marriage, Shefali remained guarded about falling in love again.

However, fate intervened when she met Parag Tyagi, known for his roles in ‘Pavitra Rishta’ and ‘Jodhaa Akbar’, at a party. What began as casual conversations gradually turned into a steady friendship. Though Shefali was initially wary of letting her guard down, it was Parag’s patient and empathetic nature that helped her open up.

He remained a constant source of support during her most vulnerable moments, never hurrying their bond and allowing love to blossom naturally.

Parag recalls the woman behind the glamour

Parag had often spoken fondly of his wife in public. In an earlier interview with Masala, he had shared: "Shefali is a sweetheart. When her music video was out, people had another image of her, but she was completely the opposite of her screen image. She is a girl any guy would love to have as a wife. She is very caring, and it shows. To judge a person, you need to look into what is happening in his or her home. She loves her parents and looks after them like a son would. She also looks after my parents."

Their connection deepened when Shefali supported Parag through a particularly difficult period involving his father’s health. The couple had planned to marry earlier but postponed the ceremony to prioritise family. They finally tied the knot on August 12, 2014. During that time, Shefali even brought Parag’s parents to Mumbai and took care of them as if they were her own.

Over the years, Shefali and Parag emerged as one of television’s most admired couples.
