‘No one has ever done that for me’: Unni Mukundan gets emotional about Soori

The Tamil film Maaman, starring actor Soori and Aishwarya Lekshmi in lead roles, is set to hit theatres on May 16. As part of the film’s promotional activities, Soori, along with Swasika, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and song director Hesham Abdul Wahab, arrived in Kerala for the promotional event. The event was graced by actor Unni Mukundan as the chief guest, and it was during this occasion that Unni Mukundan shared heartfelt words about Soori, which have since garnered significant attention.

Last year, Soori and Unni Mukundan shared screen space in Garudan, a film directed by Durai Senthillumar. The film, which also featured actor Sasikumar in a key role, saw Soori play the lead, with Unni Mukundan portraying the antagonist. Unni Mukundan spoke about how the two actors first met on the sets of Garudan. He also recalled a touching gesture from Soori during the release of his film Marco.

Unni Mukundan revealed that Soori, without any prior connection or request, had sent him a video message wishing him success when Marco was about to be released.

“I had no interaction with Soori regarding the film, nor did I ask for any wishes from him. But one day, I received a video message from him with my film hitting the theatres. Soori sir had sent his congratulations when the film was about to release in Tamil. No one had ever done something like this for me before,” Unni Mukundan expressed emotionally.

Unni further shared, “In the video message for Marco, Soori sir said that my younger brother’s film was about to release in Tamil, and his message was all about wishing the film success. That is something I will never forget.”

Unni Mukundan also conveyed his best wishes for Soori's upcoming project, Maaman, stating that he hoped the film would be a massive hit.

Maaman is directed by Prasanth Pandiyaraj, with Soori himself credited for the story. Aishwarya Lekshmi plays the female lead.

Meanwhile, Unni Mukundan is preparing to make his directorial debut with a film under the banner of Sree Gokulam Movies. The film, produced by Gokulam Gopalan, features a screenplay by Midhun Manuel Thomas and is said to belong to the superhero genre.

As the Maaman team’s promotional activities continue, fans are eagerly anticipating the film’s release.
