Leading lights of Indian cinema have united in grief and condemnation following the horrifying terror attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam, where atleast 26 innocent civilians — largely tourists — lost their lives in what is being described as the most brutal assault on civilians since the Pulwama tragedy of 2019.

Kamal Haasan, actor and politician, condemned the “heinous terror attack” and conveyed his sympathies via X (formerly Twitter). “My thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones, and I wish strength and recovery to the injured. India stands united – in grief, in resolve, and in our commitment to uphold law, order, and national security.”

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal expressed shock at the atrocity, stating, “My heart goes out to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. It is devastating to witness such cruelty. No cause can ever justify the taking of innocent lives.”

Fellow Malayalam icon Mammootty also shared a heartfelt note: “Absolutely heartbroken by the #Pahalgam terror attack. Words fall short in the face of such tragedy. It’s hard to even imagine the pain and trauma the affected families are going through right now. The entire nation stands in deep mourning, united in grief and solidarity. We place our full trust in our Armed Forces to bring justice for the brave souls we lost. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.”

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar wrote, “Horrified to know of the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam. Sheer evil to kill innocent people like this. Prayers for their families.”

Telugu superstar Ram Charan added, “Shocked and saddened by the terror attack in Pahalgam. Such incidents have no place in our society and should be strongly condemned. My prayers are with the families of those affected.”

Allu Arjun, star of the blockbuster Pushpa, said, “Soo heartbroken by #Pahalgam Attack. Such a beautiful place with kind-hearted people. Condolences to all the families, near and dear of the victims. May their innocent souls rest in peace. Truly heart breaking.”

Actress Alia Bhatt shared a deeply emotional response: “The news from Pahalgam is heartbreaking. Innocent lives lost. Tourists, families, people who were just... living. Seeking beauty. Seeking peace. And now there's only grief. And the unbearable weight of it. Every time something like this happens, it chips away at our shared humanity. May those souls rest in peace. And may those left behind find strength somehow – though I don't know how we even begin to ask that of them.”

Veteran actor Sanjay Dutt called for a strong response from the government: “They killed our people in cold blood. This can't be forgiven. These terrorists need to know we are not staying quiet. We need to retaliate. I request our Prime Minister @narendramodi ji, Home Minister @AmitShah ji and Defence Minister @rajnathsingh ji to give them what they deserve.”

Producer Ritesh Sidhwani urged the nation to stay united. “The loss of innocent lives of civilians and tourists is beyond devastating. Violence like this has no place in any society. Praying for the families who've lost loved ones and for all those affected. Let’s stand united against hatred and terror.”

Actor and humanitarian Sonu Sood remarked, “Terrorism should not have any place in a civilized world and this dastardly act is unacceptable. My deepest condolences to the families who lost their dear ones and prayers for early recovery of those who are injured.”

Veteran actor Nagarjuna Akkineni also took to social media to grieve, tagging the Prime Minister. “Deeply saddened by the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. My heartfelt condolences to the families who’ve lost their loved ones. Praying for strength, healing, and peace for all those affected. Grateful to Hon'ble PM @narendramodi ji for the swift response and support.”

As the country reels from the tragedy, voices from across the entertainment industry have underscored the nation's unity in the face of terrorism and reiterated a common call for justice, healing, and national resolve. (With inputs from Agencies)
