In ‘Lokah: Chapter One – Chandra’, social media users have spotted a reference to ‘Indriyam’ in Nishanth Sagar’s character. The film, released 25 years ago with Vani Viswanath as the lead, is being connected by fans to ‘Lokah’ through Nishanth Sagar’s character. Several curious parallels between the two films have been highlighted.

In ‘Indriyam’, Nishanth Sagar’s character, Sunny, is the one who frees Neeli, a yakshi, from the tree where she had been pinned down with an arrow. In Lokah, the character played by Kalyani Priyadarshan is Kalliyankattu Neeli. Interestingly, Nishanth’s character in ‘Lokah’ is Prakash, who helps Moothon deliver instructions to Neeli, implying that she comes under Kathanar’s control. The dialogues in ‘Lokah’ subtly hint at Neeli being “tamed”, connecting to the earlier story in Indriyam.

Beyond character parallels, there are some coincidental name references. In ‘Lokah’, Naslen plays a character named Sunny, which fans note resonates with the earlier portrayal. In the movie, Chandra mentions that her British officer boyfriend in 1905 had the same looks as Sunny.

Directed by George Kithu, ‘Indriyam’ featured Vani Viswanath, Vikram, Boban Alumoodan, Lena and others in key roles alongside Nishanth Sagar. The story revolves around the revenge of Neeli, the yakshi.

In Lokah, following Moothon’s instructions, Prakash, played by Nishanth Sagar, brings Chandra to Bengaluru. While Moothon is not physically shown in the film, behind-the-scenes posts suggest that the character is portrayed by Mammootty.
