Nirmal Kapoor, mother of Anil and Boney Kapoor, passes away at 90

Mumbai: Nirmal Kapoor, the matriarch of the Kapoor family and mother to Bollywood personalities Boney Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and Sanjay Kapoor, passed away in Mumbai on Friday at the age of 90.

Her son, producer Boney Kapoor, was seen arriving at her residence shortly after the news of her passing was confirmed.

Lyricist Javed Akhtar arrived at the residence of Nirmal Kapoor, in Mumbai.

Nirmal Kapoor was the wife of the late Surinder Kapoor, a noted film producer. She is survived by her four children — Boney, Anil, Sanjay, and daughter Reena Kapoor Marwah — as well as a large extended family that includes several well-known names from the Indian film industry.

She was the grandmother of actors Arjun Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor, Anshula Kapoor, and Mohit Marwah.

Just last year, in September 2024, the Kapoor family came together to celebrate Nirmal’s 90th birthday. Marking the occasion, Anil Kapoor had shared photos with his mother on social media, captioning them: “90 years of love, strength, and endless sacrifices. Your presence fills our lives with joy and positivity every day.”
