'Neeraj Madhav stopped the car and made me pick up the bottle': Aju Varghese

Actor Aju Varghese has recently shared how Neeraj Madhav’s music reflects the values he practices in real life.
During a recent interview, Aju recalled an incident that showcased Neeraj’s strong sense of environmental responsibility.
The two actors recently appeared on a talk show with Pearle Maaney to promote their upcoming web series ‘Love Under Construction’ on JioHotstar. Neeraj, who has made his mark in Kerala’s indie rap scene as hip-hop artiste NJ, spoke about his music and upcoming projects. He revealed that his next track, ‘Old School Lady,’ is a “funky, groovy love song” and played a teaser of the track during the show.
The rapper also discussed ‘Jungle Speaks,’ a song that delivers messages on environmental conservation and animal rights through the perspective of a monkey named Sulaiman. The track highlights issues such as roadkills, plastic pollution, and violence against animals.
Pearle Maaney, who was also part of the conversation, praised rap as a medium for revolution and strong messaging. She noted how ‘Jungle Speaks’ effectively addresses pressing environmental concerns.
During the discussion, Aju recounted an experience that left a lasting impression on him. “Once, while travelling in a vehicle, I threw a plastic bottle out. Neeraj saw it, stopped the car, and made me pick it up. That’s when I realised his songs aren’t just stories—he actually lives by what he preaches,” he said.
Neeraj, known for hits like ‘Panipaali’ and ‘Ballaatha Jaathi,’ revealed that he has several tracks lined up for release this year.
Meanwhile, ‘Love Under Construction,’ starring Neeraj, Aju, and Gouri G Kishan, is a romantic comedy written and directed by Vishnu G Raghav.
