‘And she’s ok with it...?’ Nayanthara, Vignesh slammed for working with POCSO-accused choreographer

Director Vignesh Shivan and actor-producer Nayanthara have come under fire on social media after collaborating with choreographer Jani Master, who is facing serious allegations in a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) case. The couple is being criticised for giving a platform to someone previously accused of sexual assault involving a minor.

Controversial collaboration in 'Love Insurance Kompany'

The backlash began after Vignesh Shivan re-shared a post by Jani Master on Instagram confirming his involvement in the upcoming film ‘Love Insurance Kompany’. The film is being directed by Vignesh and produced by Nayanthara.

On 1 July, Jani Master posted a picture and a behind-the-scenes video from the shoot, writing:

“Candid & crazy with the dearest #VigneshShivan Sir on the sets of #LoveInsuranceKompany. It's always a joy working with you for the care, respect and trust you shower on me sir. Can't wait to show the magic we created to all of them (sic).”

Vignesh responded by re-sharing the post on his Instagram Story, writing, “Sweet master ji. Team LIK – love you and your vibe a lot (sic),” followed by heart and heart-eye emojis.

This gesture sparked an uproar online, with netizens accusing the couple of ignoring the serious allegations against Jani Master and instead offering him validation and visibility.

Many took to social media to express their disappointment in both Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara. One X user wrote:

“There's a reason people are losing respect for VigneshShivan. First it was Dileep. Now it's Jani Master.

Keep calling accused predators a ‘vibe’ and we see exactly where you stand—not with survivors.

And Nayanthara is just... okay with it? Some ‘power couple’.”

“Nayan called herself a self-made woman who knows the struggles of female actors, urged stars to speak out, and thanked those who supported her. Yet she's fine with her husband backing a man accused under POCSO. Why the double standards?” Another user questioned.

Jani master's POCSO case

In September 2024, Jani Master admitted to sexually assaulting a junior colleague when she was still a minor. He was arrested and later released on conditional bail. The charges were serious enough that the National Award he received for Best Choreography, for the song ‘Megam Karukkatha’ from ‘Thiruchitrambalam’, was subsequently suspended.

Despite the gravity of the case, the latest collaboration has raised concerns about accountability and ethics in the entertainment industry, particularly when influential figures continue to work with those facing criminal allegations.

As of now, neither Vignesh Shivan nor Nayanthara has issued a statement addressing the controversy.
