I didn’t know Madhavan Chettan was here, my eyes filled with tears on seeing him: Navya Nair

TP Madhavan, who once thrived in the Malayalam cinema, has passed away on Wednesday at the age of 88 at a hospital in Kollam. He has been living alone for the past nine years at Gandhibhavan in Pathanamthitta. He made his silver screen debut in 1975 with the film 'Raagam' and remained active in the industry for 37 years until 2012. His last appearance on screen was in the 2016 film 'Malgudi Days'.
It was while he was living without shelter in a lodge in Thiruvananthapuram that serial director Prasad brought Madhavan to Gandhibhavan. Following that, Gandhibhavan shared a video on social media about TP Madhavan. Actress Navya Nair and actor and minister KB Ganesh Kumar shared their experience of visiting Gandhibhavan to meet TP Madhavan.
Navya spoke emotionally after seeing TP Madhavan that day. She unexpectedly encountered Madhavan while attending the Rural Film Institute Film Awards at Gandhibhavan in May 2022, where she received the Best Actress award. She had no idea that the actor, with whom she had acted in numerous films, was living there.
"When I came here, I saw TP Madhavan Chettan. We acted together in films like 'Kalyanaraman' and 'Chathikkatha Chanthu'. I didn’t know he was here. I was shocked when I saw him. I have never considered anyone above my parents. Seeing him brought tears to my eyes. I realized that no one can predict what will happen to us tomorrow," Navya said.
