'Best Film to Best Actress' Kerala film industry shines at 70th National Film Awards

The announcement of the 70th National Film Awards has filled the Kerala film fraternity with immense pride, as Malayalam cinema has been prominently recognized on the national stage. This year’s awards showcased the exceptional talent and creative brilliance of Malayalam films and actors. 

Anand Ekarshi’s directorial 'Attam' has clinched the National Award for Best Film. This film has also won Best Screenplay along with Best Editing to Mahesh Bhuvanend.

Nitya Menon, known for her versatile acting, has been honored with the Best Actress award for her performance in the Tamil film 'Thiruchitrambalam', where she starred alongside Dhanush. 

The Best Malayalam Film award went to 'Saudi Vellakka', directed by Tharun Moorthy, who previously gained recognition for 'Operation Java'. The film delves into a case-related incident and has been praised for its narrative depth and compelling performances. The film features Zarin Shihab, Vinay Fort, Kalabhavan Shajohn, and Nandhan Unn, alongside nine new faces, with Anurudh Aneesh handling cinematography and Renganath Ravee providing sound design. Basil CJ’s contribution with background music and lyrics has further enhanced the film's appeal.

Additionally, Bombay Jayashree was awarded Best Playback Singer for her song in Saudi Vellakka, adding a musical highlight to the film’s success. Sreepathyan was recognized as Best Child Actor for his role in Malikappuram.
