Mumbai: Amid the buzz surrounding AR Rahman’s divorce and speculation linking him to his bassist Mohini Dey, the latter has finally addressed the controversy. Mohini, known for her electrifying bass performances, took to Instagram to slam the rumours and make a heartfelt plea for privacy.

In a strongly worded post on her Instagram stories, Mohini wrote:
"I’ve been getting a humongous amount of requests for interviews and I know exactly what it’s about, so I have to respectfully turn each one down because I am not interested in fueling ABSOLUTE BS. I believe my energy is not worth spending on RUMOURS. Kindly, respect my privacy."

Rumours fueled by divorce announcements

The controversy began when Rahman’s wife, Saira Banu, announced their separation through a statement issued by her lawyer, Vandana Shah. Around the same time, Mohini Dey also revealed her separation from her husband, Mark Hartsuch, through a joint Instagram post.

Mohini and Mark shared a heartfelt message that read:
"Dear friends, family, fans, and followers, with a heavy heart, Mark and I announce that we have separated. This is a mutual understanding between us. While we remain great friends, we both have decided that we want different things in life, and separation through mutual agreement was the best way to proceed."

The post further clarified that they would continue working together on their projects, including MaMoGi and the Mohini Dey group. They urged fans to respect their decision.

"We appreciate your support in all the ways you have given it to us. Please honour the decision we have made by being positive towards us at this time and respecting our privacy. We would appreciate no judgements," they added.

Lawyer’s clarification

As rumours of a possible link between Rahman and Mohini began swirling, Saira Banu’s lawyer, Vandana Shah, stepped in to set the record straight. She clarified that the reason for Rahman and Saira’s separation was not Mohini but personal dynamics between the couple.
