Mohanlal’s daughter Vismaya to make acting debut in Jude Anthany’s ‘Thudakkam’

Vismaya Mohanlal, daughter of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, is stepping into the film industry with her debut as a lead actress. Titled ‘Thudakkam’, the film is directed by Jude Anthany Joseph and produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas. This marks the 37th production from the renowned banner.
Aashirvad Cinemas captioned the post: "Aashirvad Cinemas takes immense pride and honour in introducing Ms. Vismaya Mohanlal in her silver screen debut. With hearts full of pride and eyes set on the horizon, we unveil a new voice, a fresh vision, and the dawn of a luminous new chapter. In a world woven with stories, a storyteller emerges, not from shadows, but from light. Welcome, @mayamohanlal."
Mohanlal unveiled the poster of ‘Thudakkam’ on Facebook, writing, “Dear Mayakutty, may your 'Thudakkam' be just the first step in a lifelong love affair with cinema.”
While she has largely kept away from the cinematic spotlight, Vismaya has long been immersed in the world of art. A published author and painter, she released her debut book ‘Grains of Stardust’ in 2021 through Penguin Books. The collection, which combines poetry and illustrations, received favourable reviews and was featured in Amazon’s ‘Bestseller’ category.
In addition to her artistic pursuits, Vismaya is also passionate about martial arts. She has trained in Muay Thai, the Thai combat sport, and has shared glimpses of her training on social media. However, details about the genre of her debut film are yet to be revealed.
Vismaya’s brother, Pranav Mohanlal, entered the film industry as a lead actor with the 2018 action film ‘Aadhi’, directed by Jeethu Joseph.
Earlier on Tuesday, Aashirvad Cinemas teased a major announcement scheduled for 5 pm via its official social media handles. Fans were quick to speculate that it would be about a new Mohanlal-starrer, but the spotlight instead turned to his daughter’s debut.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal himself has been riding high on the success of two recent blockbusters — ‘Empuraan’, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, and ‘Thudarum’, helmed by Tharun Moorthy.
