Mohanlal secures iconic ‘2255’ number plate for new vehicle - 'Rajavinte Makan' reference lives on

Ernakulam: The dialogue “My phone number is 2255”, immortalised in the superhit film Rajavinte Makan, remains unforgettable among Malayalis. Echoing the iconic number from the movie, superstar Mohanlal has acquired the same number plate for his new vehicle.

At an auction held at the Ernakulam RTO on Monday, the fancy number KL-07 DJ 2255 was purchased by Mohanlal for ₹1.80 lakh.

The number will adorn his Innova Hycross, which is valued at ₹33 lakh. The auction, conducted online under the supervision of Ernakulam Joint RTO C.D. Arun, saw three participants competing for the coveted number plate.

The bidding began at ₹10,000 and quickly climbed to ₹1.45 lakh, at which point Mohanlal’s representative raised it to ₹1.80 lakh, prompting the other bidders to withdraw. A registration fee of ₹5,000 was paid to secure the number. The auction had been organised as there were two additional applicants for the number 2255.

This is not the first time Mohanlal has chosen the number 2255 for his vehicles. His KL-07 CZ 2255 number plate is on his Caravan. Meanwhile, for his luxury MPV, the Vellfire, he selected the number 2020, and for his high-end SUV, the Range Rover, he chose KL-07 DB 0001.

Interestingly, Mohanlal’s close friend and film producer, Antony Perumbavoor, also recently acquired a 2255 number plate. Antony secured KL-07 DH 2255 at ₹3.20 lakh for his luxury SUV, the Volvo XC60.

The auction and the star-studded bidding reflect the enduring impact of Rajavinte Makan, and the number 2255 continues to hold a special place in the hearts of fans and celebrities alike.
