Malayalam cinema has marked a significant milestone as Thudarum, starring veteran actor Mohanlal and directed by Tharun Moorthy, has grossed over ₹100 crore at the Kerala box office alone — the first film to do so exclusively within the state.

The action-thriller achieved this landmark figure in just 13 days since its theatrical release. The film’s producers confirmed the accomplishment, while director Tharun Moorthy and screenwriter K.R. Sunil commemorated the occasion by sharing a celebratory poster on social media.

Thudarum follows closely on the heels of Mohanlal’s previous blockbuster Empuraan, which crossed ₹300 crore in total collections last month. The new film’s success reinforces the superstar’s commanding presence at the box office.

Tharun Moorthy, known for his socially resonant films Operation Java and Saudi Vellakka, has once again found favour with audiences and critics alike. The film has been produced by M. Renjith under the Rejaputhra Visual Media banner. The screenplay is co-written by Moorthy and K.R. Sunil, with cinematography by Shaji Kumar and sound design by Vishnu Govind.

The unprecedented box office performance of Thudarum reflects the rising commercial clout of Malayalam cinema and its growing appeal among regional audiences.
