Mohanlal aware of AMMA's issues, unfair treatment towards some members: Mallika Sukumaran

Thiruvananthapuram: Veteran actress Mallika Sukumaran has publicly criticised Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), expressing her discontent with the internal operations of the organisation.

Speaking to the media here on Saturday, she claimed that only those who remain silent and compliant are given prominence in the group, and the so-called "Kaineettam", a monthly financial assistance given to financially distressed members, are being distributed unfairly .

"Mohanlal is well aware that some mistakes have been made within the organisation. There are many who have attempted to impose their own will within AMMA, and several deserving individuals are being excluded from receiving the help they need," Mallika said. "Yet, assistance is provided to those who travel abroad for 15 days a month," she added.

She further commented on the actress assault case, stating, "It is 100% true that the actress was assaulted. All these discussions began after that incident. It's been seven years, and the government still hasn't clarified the findings of the investigation. What exactly happened?"

"Why should anyone have to visit hotel rooms five or six times to secure an acting opportunity? If there’s any misconduct, it should be stopped at the first instance," she remarked.

She also criticised the handling of the Hema committee report, which was set up to investigate the mistreatment of women in the industry.
