Jeethu Joseph’s latest Malayalam crime thriller ‘Mirage’ has hit theatres, and early reactions suggest the film has lived up to the hype of being a gripping, twist-heavy ride. Starring Asif Ali and Aparna Balamurali in lead roles, the film has sparked conversations online, with audiences praising its second half, suspenseful writing, and powerful performances.

One user wrote, “#Mirage = mind-bending twists, Asif Ali & Aparna Balamurali on (fire). Second half hits like WHOA. Watch in cinemas fast—spoilers are waiting. Heart. Vision. Real.”

Another viewer called it an engaging thriller, noting, “A good engaging thriller with an avg 1st half followed by a good 2nd half where some twists worked. Vishnu's score amplified the stakes well. Making is off but writing was solid mostly in the 2nd half with some twists. The cast did well. Jeethu Joseph delivers.”

Meanwhile, another user hailed it as “The thriller of the year! Mirage review: twists and turns galore!”

Industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai also shared his take on X, writing, “#JeethuJoseph has come out with a different edge of the seat psychological thriller with plenty of twists and turns. Jeethu has ticked all the boxes that makes it interesting like a fantastic interval twist and last 15 minutes churning in the climax. It is a female-centric film with #AparnaBalamurali in top form. She nails the character with ease. #AsifAli is the surprise packet and does a neat job. In the first half too many predictable red herrings are thrown in which slows the pace. On the whole a decent & enjoyable thriller with the JJ touch.”

Directed by Jeethu Joseph and co-written with Srinivasan Abrol from a story by Aparna R. Tarakad, Mirage is produced by Naad Studios and E4 Experiments in association with Seven 1 Seven Productions and Bedtime Stories. The soundtrack is composed by Vishnu Shyam.

Earlier, speaking to Mathrubhumi News, Jeethu Joseph revealed, “The film revolves around a real-life issue faced by Aparna Balamurali. During her journey, the character played by Asif Ali, an investigative journalist, steps in to support her and confront the challenges. As the title Mirage suggests, when the characters dig deeper into the matter, they discover that the issue is far more complex than it first appeared.”
