‘Lalettan has a special place,’ says Manju Warrier, reveals her favourite director | WATCH

Kochi: Actor Manju Warrier, known for her powerful performances in Malayalam cinema, recently opened up about her role in the much-anticipated L2: Empuraan, the sequel to the blockbuster Lucifer. Reflecting on her long-standing collaborations in the industry, Manju revealed that some of her most cherished roles are those she has shared with the legendary Mohanlal. 

Speaking about her previous films with Lalettan, Manju said, “Every character I’ve played alongside Lalettan has given me a special place in the hearts of the audience. If I were to list some of my most memorable roles, many of them would be from films I’ve done with Lalettan.” The actor expressed her excitement to be working once again with Mohanlal in Empuraan, saying that she is thrilled to continue the journey of her beloved character, Priyadarshini Ramdas.

Manju's character, Priyadarshini, the elegant and complex daughter of a powerful political leader, was first introduced in Lucifer and left a lasting impression on the audience. Now, in Empuraan, she promises an even deeper exploration of the character's internal conflicts and challenges. 

"Priyadarshini Ramdas is the strongest character I have played in my career," said Manju. "The complications in Priyadarshini's life... her conflicts and complexities... As much as they attracted me, they challenged me just as much." She expressed her hope that fans would love Priyadarshini in Empuraan as much as they did in Lucifer.

While talking about her experience working with Prithviraj, the director of Empuraan, Manju couldn’t help but praise his direction. She said, “When you work with a director who makes you feel so comfortable... I think what a director needs the most is absolute clarity about what he doesn’t need, more than what he needs. This absolute clarity is the greatest quality I’ve seen in Raju (Prithviraj). Along with his conviction and confidence, working with such a director is a joyful and deeply satisfying experience.” She went on to reveal that Prithviraj is hands down one of her favourite directors, adding, “If I were to list my favourite directors, Raju would definitely have a place on that list.”

Empuraan, set to release on March 27, is a high-octane action thriller and the second installment in a planned trilogy following the success of Lucifer. The film features a star-studded cast, including Mohanlal, Prithviraj, Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Vivek Oberoi and Saniya Iyappan, among others.
