Film Critics Award: Mammootty, Parvathy, Vijay Sethupathi bag best actor titles

Film Critics Guild has announced critics’ choice awards on Sunday. Popular Malayalam movie ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ directed by Shyam Pushkaran won the award for best Malayalam movie. Megastar Mammootty, actress Parvathy Thiruvothu and Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi were selected for the award for best actor in Malayalam, best actress in Malayalam and best actor in Tamil respectively.
Parvathy won the award for her stunning performance in the movie ‘Uyare’ which is based on an acid attack survivor. Mammootty won the best actor title for ‘Unda’ directed by Khalid Rahman.
Ashiq Abu won the best director award for his last released movie ‘Virus’ based on the Nipah outbreak in Kerala. Along with the best film award, ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ won another award as director Shyam Pushkaran won the award for best script.
In Tamil, ‘Super Deluxe’ movie directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja was selected as the best movie. Vijay Sethupathi who essayed the role of a transgender in the movie won the best actor award for this movie. At the same time, Mollywood actress Amala Paul was selected as the best actress for the Tamil movie titled ‘Aadai’.
‘Super Deluxe’ movie director Thiagarajan who won the best director award shared the best script writer award for the same movie along with his co-scriptwriters Nalan Kumarasamy, Mysskin and Neelan K Sekhar.
