Great loss to film industry; VIPs pay tribute to KS Sethumadhavan

Chennai: Many actors, politicians and other prominet personalities paid tribute through social media to the renowned Malayalam film director KS Sethumadhavan who passed away at his residence in Chennai on Friday morning.

Actor Kamal Haasan who was introduced to the movie industry by Sethumadhavan as a child actor and later in lead roles posted on Instagram that KS Sethumadhavan was the originator of the new wave cinema.

Actor Mammootty posted on Facebook that K S Sethumadhavan had introduced him to the movie industry.

Actor Mohanlal tweeted that Sethumadhavan brought a new face to Malayalam movie industry.

Actor and MP Suresh Gopi also tweeted about his experience and how Sethumadhavan brought him to the industry as a child artist.

Actress Manju Warrier also paid homage to him through her social media handle.

Also, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the demise of Sethumadhavan was a loss not only to the film industry but also to the entire cultural arena of the southern state.

Stating that he was a director who introduced an innovative approach in the Malayalam industry, Vijayan also said Sethumadhavan's role in making movies acceptable to all sections of the society is noteworthy.

The filmmaker also paid attention in making the themes of Malayalam movies, which had once been confined to the stories of Gods and kings, to be more "human-centric", the Chief Minister added.
